Three-year-old Sophie attends a Mommy's Day Out program twice a week. In preparation for their upcoming Valentine's Day party I decided to make personalized photo cards with a 3D effect.
I took a couple of pictures.
Next, I used Picasa to edit my favorite picture and add text.
Then, I exported it to Walgreens to have 4 x 6 inch prints made. Using the promo code BEMINE40, I purchased 20 prints for $2.46 (including tax).
Next, I used a little piece of double-sided tape to attach the Snicker's candy on the photo for the 3D effect and taped the photo onto cardstock for stability. Finally, I punched a hole in the top right corner and added a little ribbon detail.
This is my version of the valentine card I saw at craftomaniac.

More Snow Day or Any Day Preschool Activities
A few days ago the Tulsa area received a record-breaking 20 inches of snow. Just when we thought things were starting to get better, we looked outside this morning to find this...
Four to six more inches of snow falling today.
Snowbound, we've done plenty of this:
This week I introduced the idea of counting the apple seeds and making a chart with the number of seeds in each apple.
I'm not sure she understands the chart concept yet, but it's a fun activity and a great way to introduce the idea to her using the apple seeds she's already seeing during her daily snack.
Although I made this preschool activity up off the top of my head, I did want to share two preschool resources I found and really like from my local library. They are two books from the Williamson Little Hands series. Science Play: Beginning Discoveries for 2 to 6 Year Olds and Wow! I'm Reading!: Fun Activities to Make Reading Happen. I am using so many great ideas from these books I'll probably just end up buying my own copies.
Do you have any snow day activities you'd like to share?

And lots of this:
Yes, I'm aware it is February and Riley is still wearing a Christmas-themed shirt and only has on one sock. I'm okay with it.
One of Sophie's favorite snacks is apple slices (no peel, of course) and peanut butter in the shape of a flower (because she's "a princess and that's how they like to eat it.")

French Grain Sack Tutorial
I've wanted to jump on the whole French grain sack band wagon to add a little pizazz to my decor.
I liked this idea of covering a chair. (image from countryliving.com)
And I thought about making pillows like these from bliss-interiors.net.
You can't have too many cute dish towels. I found these at Teresa Sheeley Designs via etsy.
I like DIY projects that are inexpensive. Many of the tutorial I saw out in the blog world require the purchase of somewhat pricey (by my standard) images. Tonight I stumbled on this fantastic tutorial by Kelly at Till Death do us Part. In it she shares how she created this French table runner downloading FREE vintage/French inspired clip art graphics from The Graphics Fairy. Didn't Kelly do such a great job? Her tutorial is easy to follow too. Jump on over to her site and decide what project you're ready to tackle.
